This is the step by step construction process for the contents page of my music magazine. It shows all of the changes and decisions I made along the way.
I began by using a mid shot of my model that took up the whole left side page, added headers showing the master head 'Hendrix' and the page title 'Feature: Cyndi Tyler'. On the facing page I used the wood like image that I used for the background on the contents page so that it looked uniformed and had a running theme. I also added a green edge on the outside of the photo so that it looked related to the previous page and part of the same product.
I then started work on the first photo page. I added a boarder at the bottom with the text "includes: new tour, music heros & confessions" in yellow Charlemagne Std becuase it is very eye catching.i also added an intersting quote that is included in the article “a fan came up to me, took his shirt off and showed me his
back which was fully covered in a tattoo of my face”and placed it in the top left hand corner as the composition provided the perfect positioning.
back which was fully covered in a tattoo of my face”and placed it in the top left hand corner as the composition provided the perfect positioning.
The next step was to write the article for the facing page. I looked at existing music magazine articles and used similar questions to create my own interview. Once the article was done I added it onto a black background (with the wood inage acting as a border) and added a title in the font 'Rebel' ...
I chose this font beacuse it was bold eye catching but also edgy so it related to my rock genre.
The final step was to improve the aesthetics of the page and make it look more intersting. So I added a secondary image of an artist that was supporting 'Cyndi Tyler' on her new tour in the bottom left hand corner. Also in the top right hand corner I added a photo of Cyndi Tlyers alcum cover that i creaeted myself. I also created an eye catching buzz to attract the reader to it.
The final step was to create the second page of the article I began by using the same wood image that I used on previous pages and added a header with the same text as the first page of the article: 'Hendrix' and 'Feature: Cyndi Tyler'.
I had already written the article so I just had to copy and paste it over and make sure that all the spacing and sizing matched. I continued to use Gabriola so that the magazine looked uniformed.
The final step was to add all of the photos that I had edited to the left hand side to create a kind of polaroid strip. (See post titled 'Photos for second page of article' for explanation)
