Photos for second page of article

I am going to create a polaroid strip down the left hand side of the second page of my article to make it more attractive and make for a more interesting read to the audience.

I chose to use these photos because they are close ups, which is the most common shot used in magazine as it puts more focus onto the artists and allows the reader to see more of the artist.

The majority of my images where close ups so I then took more long/mid shots as it is important to have a variety of camera shots and angles. For this image I chose a mid shot because the model was in an intersting location. It was also shot with a low angle, making the artist appear powerful and makes the reader look up to them.

To create more variety I also used a long shot from a high angle. Again the model was in an intresting location and it was the only high angle shot I took so I thought it was important to use it. The high angle also made the photo more intresting and created a different composition tha the rest of my images.

Second article page

This is the layout for the second page of my article, it continues the themes and colour schemes that I have used on my previous pages so that it all appears part of the same piece. The results from my questionnaire told me that the readers like to see lots of different photos in magazines so I have created a polaroid strip to go along the side of the page to make it more interesting.

Feature photo choice on double page spread

As a result of looking through existing magazines I have noticed that after the contents page there is usually a page that is completely taken up by a photo, therefore I will do this in my magazine aswell.
There are two photos that I could chose from for my double page spread and the two designs are below.

Both pictures are mid shots but I have decided to chose the first design beacuse I prefer the composition and it allows the audience to see more of the artist, it also appears more engaging.

Double page spread

To make the two pages blend together and to look a part of the same article I have edited the background on the facing page with a dark green colour wash. This continues the nature themed background from the first page and makes the page look more united.

Double page spread design

This was my first attempt at producing my double page spread, but after refering back to existing music magazines, I came to the conclusion that the design didn't suit the genre of my magazine.

In response to this I decided to change the colour scheme to reduce the amount of white spaces, instead I used a black a white patterned image as a frame and then black as the main background colour.

After comparing the two designs and receiving feedback from others I have decided to go with the black theme and it is more related to my rock genre and therefore will be more appealing to the reader.
